The 2017 Blues & BBQ Festival Was Amazing!

If we had one word to describe this festival, it would be “happy.”

We’re so happy that so many people could come out to this event – with record attendance! We had just shy of 2,000 people come out, and if it wouldn’t have been for that sudden drop off in temps at nightfall, I bet we would’ve blown past 2k. Note for next year – think we’ll go Noon to 9pm.

Our food vendors were very happy and genuinely impressed with Marion! We hit ’em so hard that a couple ran out of food! (I still can’t understand how Big Pappy’s had that consistent of a line so late into the night!) Thank you so much to Big Pappy’s BBQ, Parker & Sons, Smokin Dick’s Barbecue Co., Tackett’s Southern Bar-B-Que, Pop’d Sensations Gourmet Popcorn Shoppe, and Ann’s Pies. All very professional, super nice people. Can’t wait to have you back again next year!
(We would’ve had a couple more food vendors, but they bailed on us at the last minute, so we apologize for the lack of variety.)

The bands had a blast and loved hanging out with the fans. Super thank you to Patrick Pierce, Micah Ian Kesselring, The Drifter Kings, The Jimi Vincent Band, The Greezy Bullets, and Dock Adams & Blues Hammer!
Hey, if you’re nice (and if it’s cool with them), maybe we’ll air some of the live performances, cuz we’ve got ’em!

Thank you to everyone we ran into while we were running around the grounds. Loved meeting our listeners and chatting. We’re gonna keep rocking for you! You’re the reason we’re still here and will stay for years to come! You can’t imagine what you all just did to Jordan’s ego…. lol

Special thank you to the Marion County Commissioners, Andy Applefeller, Ken Stiverson, and Kerr Murray. They and the whole county admin showed us nothing but the best cooperation and enthusiasm. Here’s hoping we put all the trash in the right place and they’re not mad at us come Monday morning…

Thank you Scott Morris for taking some pictures for us (including this one here) since we were too busy and scattered to do it ourselves!

Thank you to Cogburn Electric, Inc for the generator and the electrical help!

Thank you to JCR Studio & Sound for the sound and setup and everything that you do. Brian Jester, Chris Stanforth and everyone. Man… these guys are the real deal.

Thank you to Downtown Marion for running the beer. Hope we made you folks a little money that you can reinvest into downtown!

Thank you Brandy Alspach Gatrell and Mark Gatrell and Marions Hometown Talent for the stage! Sorry for the grumbling. We were so sore come 1am… lol

Without you, this never would have happened.
Thank you: Schrader Computer, Fahey Bank, Peacock Water, Marion Technical College, Jacks Resale Shop, Ready To Rent, Musicians 1 Stop, Miller Lawn and Power Equipment, Spokes mobile repair, Wyandot Inc., and Marion Community Credit Union!

Thank you Mayor Scott Schertzer for kicking off the music and introducing our Marion talent! (Hey Pat, you got intro’d by the mayor! How cool is that??)

Thank you Wolfpak Martial Arts for the demo! Man those forms made Spencer & Jordan miss class…

Thank you to our volunteers. You saved our butts, that’s for sure.

Thank you, Marion Sheriff Ohio for providing security for the event! Even though you were “on the clock,” we hope you had a fun time.

Don’t be shy about chiming in here if we forgot to thank someone in particular. With so much going on, it’s easy to miss someone, and we want to make sure everyone gets a shout out.

Can’t wait to do this again next year! We’re going to enhance what was good, weed out what was bad, and continually improve to make this an even more amazing event!

(And here’s the teaser at the end of the credits…)

We’re looking forward to seeing you all again real soon at the 2nd Annual Great Marion Pizza Challenge… at the coliseum! Stay tuned for details!
